Nationally Certified Educational Diagnostician

Carolyn Myers has extensive experience with educational diagnostic testing primarily using the Woodcock-Johnson III test to determine specific learning difficulties and dyslexia. A full array of tests are used to thoroughly look at learning problems from a variety of prospectives. She has taught and tested students in both private and public schools, as well as in hospital settings. She participated in onsite training with Dr. Mel Levine and is familiar with both diagnostic tools and parent resources that have been developed through the All Kinds of Minds network for students with learning differences. She has been a learning consultant for The Collegiate School and has worked with faculty, parents, and students in all grade levels. Her areas of expertise and certification are in: Special Learning Disabilities K-12, Elementary Education, Pre-School Handicapped, and extensive courses in the area of gifted education.

IDA cautions parents who are looking for instructors, clinicians, schools, and programs to be very thorough in their review of programs and services that claim to treat dyslexia or “cure” dyslexia. In this era of internet advertising, claims are frequently made about therapies and treatment programs that have little or no scientific merit. Claims about the effectiveness of some widely advertised programs and/or their components may be unsubstantiated by objective, independent research, and the practitioners of those programs and methods may not have met customary standards for training in the field.
