Rebecca Brock Richardson Award

The recipient for 2008:

It is an honor to notify members of the VBIDA Board that Julia Ann Greenwood, Head of The New Community School, has been nominated as recipient of the 2008 Rebecca Brock Richardson Award.

Julia Ann is well known to many in the field of dyslexia. She has served on the Boards of the Orton Dyslexia Society (IDA) and the Learning Disabilities Council. Currently she is on the Board of Advisors of the Kildonan School in New York. She also serves on the Executive Committee of the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.

The New Community School located in Richmond, Virginia began in 1974 under the tutelage of Alice Ansara, a well known educator in the field of dyslexia. Julia Ann became its Head in 1977. She has steadfastly supported and maintained the school's original mission to provide a college preparatory program for dyslexic middle and upper school students of average or above average intelligence.

VBIDA's Rebecca Brock Richardson Nominating Chair wishes to thank each of you for the fine nominees presented to the Committee for careful consideration.
